Overview: As lead designer I designed a snowboard for Whiteclaw for in-store display support. Whiteclaw is the top hard seltzer beverage, and was expected to hit $1B in sales in 2019.
Creative: I needed to include Whiteclaw’s ocean wave image, tagline, beverage facts, and logo. Using an image of a snowboard I traced the shape, made a clipping mask on the ocean wave. I wanted to add more of details, so I included the binding holes that are visible on snowboards. The final size of the display piece was 48”x14”.
Overview: Spearheaded this surfboard project for a Hawaiian themed restaurant in Sacramento. The client had a full size surfboard and tasked us to design a wrap showcasing a brewery.
Creative: After considering four breweries and their beers, I decided on using Da Shootz brewed by Deschutes Brewing out of Bend, Oregon. The packaging and digital assets for Da Shootz are floral and the colors are very Hawaiian. Using production art from Deschutes I created a layout that represented the brand and fit surfboard perfectly. The final product was printed in-house on vinyl and applied to the surfboard. Standing at 8’ x 2.5’ the surfboard now hangs inside the restaurant.
Overview: As lead designer from concept to final print I worked with Heretic Brewing Company to create their first trailer wrap.
Creative: This particular project was challenging because the trailer wasn’t finished being built. Usually I like to measure the trailers myself, this time around I relied on the manufacturers notes. The brewery owners gave me creative freedom with design. Their preferred colors are black and red, I used a red to black gradient as the background. Then created a layout, we went through a few designs. The only changes they wanted was the copy in the middle of the design. Finalized with “Be a Heretic” followed by “Don’t drink ordinary beer.”
Overview: This was a personal project, was able to let my creativity flow on a blank skateboard deck.
Creative: Inspired from researching Polynesian and Pacific Islander tattoo culture. I was able to use a roll of blue painters tape for all of the curved line work, and a ruler as a straight edge. I designed three different pieces on the deck, each end has a different symmetrical design. Using a fine tip Sharpie and some Micron pens I drew directly on the deck. For protection I sprayed the deck with UV resistant clear coat.
